Love those wheels. Looks great!
Add some white vinyl stripes on the side, just for winter? =)

Good, get that snow! I would very much like to visit your state for some skiing this winter (though that’s not actually allowed right now, unless I get a negative test first, or quarantine for two weeks). Hopefully that will be relaxed, but if not, I guess New Hampshire will let me in.

That’s a really great color. The white wheels match well with it.

Are those new tires? I just got mine and they put on the WS90 Blizzaks, yours look like WS80. Is there a difference?

Ws90 is the new model. These are a season old, and I got them on clearance last year.

We've been toying with orange racing stripes actually... But the car keeps being too dirty and we keep being too busy with other stuff to do it.

‘sposed to be more in the south than up here, but knowing the season it won’t be long until we need em for real, and today was as nice a day as we’re gonna have in a while to get the job done.

Question: For someone who lives in an area that rarely gets snow, are winter tires still worth it for when temperatures are <40F?
I’ve got Pirelli Centura to all-seasons on the daily at the moment, and they’re great in the dry (wet is another story) but starting next spring, I’d really like something grippier for the dry weather months, which leaves the decision of sticking with all-seasons in Winter or shooting for winter rubber?

I have run ultra high performance summers on dry, cold roads. It’s not a good time. If you rarely see snow I don’t think a dedicated winter is needed, but rubber compound matters when it gets cold. I’d keep/invest in at least a set of good all-seasons for the cold months. I really like the General AS-05s. They’re actually really good on warm/hot dry pavement as well. Not quite up to UHP Summer levels, but way better than the lest set of Centuratos I drove on... Which to be fair was quite a few years ago...

Gotcha. I was amazed at how differently my car handles with them vs the performance all seasons I took off. It’s been 3 years since I had dedicated winter tires, and I don’t remember the old ones being so dramatically different.

Mt. Snow (which to be honest, I didn’t really like the one time I visited) is opening 11/14, so I’m sure they’ll take all the early season snow you can get them.

I put my winters on last weekend when I was replacing my exhaust, just because it was already on the lift. I thought I was too earl y but now I’m glad I did.

I’ve heard good things about it. I have an Epic pass though so I’m trying to stick to those resorts. In Vermont that means Snow, Okemo, and Stowe. Also realistically, Jay Peak is a four-hour drive which is bit more than I’d want to do for a day trip (even Stowe is 3:30, which is more than I’d be excited about doing).

Stowe is too expensive if you don't have a pass... Day lift tickets are $125 now :}p but it IS good.

You in northern VT then? Southern Quebec here, was a season pass holder at jay last year and pretty bummed covids stopping me from doing it again.

Yep, I’m less than 50 kilometers from the border. I’m bummed I can’t go cheese, sausage and beer shopping in Quebec... We have goo d cheese and beer here (though different) but t here are only a few places in the North Eastern United States that make a decent cured sausage, and none of them are as good as what we find in Quebec.

The thing with summer tires is they’re not good in lower temps but that doesn’t mean you need to supplement them with winter tires if you don’t get much snow.
I used to live in Wisconsin and I always put snows on my stock wheels and summers on aftermarket wheels. When I moved to DC, I already had the winter tires for my car like that so I kept doing it. We get occasional light snow here and every once in a long while a big storm, but I put the winters on to avoid running the summers in the low temps.
N ow I just bought my Civic Si which came with UHPAS tires on it. Sure winter tires could be helpful but not necessary. With FWD + LSD m y plan is to keep the stock wheels & tires as a “winter” set and run summers on wider aftermarket wheels.
If your all-seasons aren’t in need of replacement you could keep them as your “ winter” tires as well. If you’re replacing them in addition to adding the summers then you could consider performance winter tires which give a mix of sporty-ish handling approaching some sporty all-season tires, plus much better winter capability than all-seasons.

Damn, even when I lived in WI, the soonest I’d typically put my winters on was Thanksgiving.

Honestly, as it happens the Cinturato’s were the first ever set of tires I had bought with any sort of research put into them, so I’ll say that while I think they were an improvement over the stock Firestone “Insert generic alpha-numeric name here” Toyota put on , I’ll fully admit my overall experience is limited, so I appreciate all the info.
